Total randomness:

1) Anyone from Atlanta or been to Atlanta? Going with the parents over New Year's and they told me to find stuff to do, and um, there's like nothing? I really don't care about the Coca Cola headquarters or whatever.

2) What did everyone get for Christmas?? I got: a new computer (YAY), a really pretty coat, a really pretty shirt, DVD (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 - yes I liked it, shut up) and some other stuff, can't remember now.

3) The Twilight fandom sucks so much now. I really don't care about Robert Pattinson's haircut, but apparently it's interesting enough for the fandom to have endless discussions for days on end over. Also, please stop gushing over Jacob Black in an Edward/Bella comm. Hating the "other guy" is part of shipping, I don't know why people are not grasping this concept. I thought it was like an unwritten rule, but apparently a lot of these kids are new to the interwebz.

4) I need new books to read. I think I'm going to start Hocus Pocus on the plane to Atlanta, but I don't know how into it I'll get. I haven't enjoyed Vonnegut all that much in the past, but I like to try to re-introduce myself to things I didn't like when I was younger every once in a while to see if my tastes have changed. But please leave me recommendations.

Nine actors who are hot and can act and don't get nearly enough attention. Just because.

Aren't we all sick of seeing Zac Efron's albeit pretty face everywhere? )

I'm about 550 pages into it, and yeah... I don't really even care to finish it.

I guess I'll put it all under a cut, though I'm pretty sure everyone has read it by now )

First of all, I'd like to welcome [info]jo_herself to the Twilight obsession. She gets extra points for hating Jacob halfway through New Moon. Even I took longer than that. But she has not reached the end of Eclipse yet, so there's more hate to come! Bwahahahahahaha.

Apparently my friends are a lot nerdier than I thought. I had just assumed that no one would want to go to Comic-Con with me, and I'd pretty much have to beg and guilt the roomie into going with me, because he's just a damn pushover, but it turns out that three of my friends are planning on going, though for different reasons. One is probably going to go and cover it for Rotten Tomatoes (AND loaning me his Canon digital SLR with telephoto lens for the Twilight panel - oh yeah, I'm gonna Amy Howe the hell out of it), another is doing an all-out nerd extravaganza weekend, going to Saturday and Sunday for sure and maybe even Friday, and yesterday I casually mentioned it to another friend during lunch and she seemed super excited and wanted to go too. PLUS - I talked to the Comic-Con press guy, and he says I DO qualify for a press pass because of the site, all I gotta do is send him some past posts I've made. So please remind me to not slack off on this. I really don't want to pay $35 (or $75) when I can get a free pass. It's due before June 13th.

So this is awesome and perfect and is going to be super fun. Although in the presence of so many real life friends I might I have to hide how big of a Twilight fan I am. Hmmmmmm, very tricky.

OMG I am such a slacker. I can't believe we were chatting for like an hour before I wished you a VERY BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Here is a post just for you to make up for it.

[info]noperfectlife you are my Twilight Twin, basically thinking and posting exactly what I think on any and all Twilight topics. Except... you like Jacob. That's weird. And you don't like Robert/Kristen (a situation I fully intend on rectifying ASAP). BUT, we will always have Charlie/Rachel love, realistic views on Kristen Stewart, bitching about the stupidity of the fandom, bitching about a certain person we love and adore (I could write a college thesis on it, omg!! SHALL I SEND IT TO YOU?) and the 456,405 other things we agree on.

This is for you even though you know I am morally opposed:

MICHAEL A-NAME THANKS YOU FOR THE SUPPORT.

I'm thinking about training for a marathon. I'm so out of shape, I can barely run around the block without getting winded. But I watched this PBS special where a group of totally out of shape people trained for 9 months for a marathon and all but one (who had to drop out early because of injuries) were able to do it. So I'm thinking if they can do it, then so can I. I don't think I'm nearly as bad as some of those people. A guy who had a heart attack, a woman who was like 70 pounds overweight, a 60 year old, all did it. Come on now. Plus I feel like I'm so unhealthy with the eating junk food and the not exercising. I mean I should be thankful I don't really gain weight very easily, but the health thing is definitely a concern. I always figured I'd be stupid and unhealthy while I'm young and worry about that stuff later on in life, but I'm starting to think maybe that's not such a good idea?

I figured I could aim for the LA marathon next March, give myself nearly a year. The roommate seems to think it would only take 3 months and starting so early would just ensure I'd get bored and slack off. A likely possibility given the way I tend to leave things unfinished. He of course is totally athletic and once ran a marathon after only 3 weeks of training. Yeah, he threw up afterwards but at least he did it. But he says he could set me up with a plan and a schedule and stuff. Sooooooooo I don't know. Guess we'll see how it goes.

So add "run a marathon" to my list of things to do in life.

Oh hello, long neglected Livejournal!

I haven't posted in this journal since the summer of 2005. I find that absolutely hilarious. I have done some real blogging on the real blog, but actually haven't even updated that in about 6 months either. I just suck at this blogging regularly thing.

Some random stuff:

1) I love that all of my old Livejournal posts are about procrastinating on college essays. OH COLLEGE. I sort of miss you. Not UC Santa Cruz itself, but only having to worry about passing classes instead of juggling career and life decisions.

2) And on that subject, I am still perpetually going through a quarter-life crisis. I dread the question "what do you want to do ultimately?" during job interviews because, simply put, I HAVE NO IDEA. I know I want to stay in entertainment. I know I like marketing. But do I know if that's what I want to be doing for the next 50 years? Am I totally giving up on design completely? What about doing PR, or development, or production, or finishing that damn screenplay? THERE ARE NO ANSWERS, ONLY MORE QUESTIONS.

3) Am currently at a pretty cool job. Assisting a producer and my main job is to search for stories and books and anything that might make a good Lifetime TV movie. Not exactly my ideal genre, but it's great learning about how people choose what gets made into movies. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

4) Coincidentally, Lifetime wants me to go in and interview for a Design Assistant position. Again, do I even want to do design for a living? Please ask me again when I'm not so confused, Lifetime!

5) But if Cimarron wants to hire me to do design work on Twilight, I'M THERE!

Wow, that wasn't so much random as it was one long rant about career aspirations. Can you tell I'm pretty much obsessed with this whole thing right now? Thank god for Twilight, really, otherwise I would have no distractions from all these heavy life questions floating around in my head.

Ok, so the MTV Movie Awards FINALLY aired, and holy shit, it was better than I even expected. I mean, holy SHIT. Seriously. [info]angela627 made the clip, and since like-a-dream.net isn't open yet, I've uploaded the clip on YSI so everyone can enjoy it (seriously everyone needs to see this acceptance speech. It's AWESOME.) Here we go:

CLIP | SCREEN CAPS

Also, from the mtv.com post-show poll:

That's right. 78%, bitches. Take a hint, no one cares about "Tomkat". And could MTV jump any further up Tom Cruise's ass? What the hell was that Post-Show? It was like one big "War of the Worlds" commercial. I think we all would have much preferred to see Ryan/Rachel continue their makeout session backstage. C'mon that's so what his little "let's go" head gesture meant.

Why is Julia Roberts in "Closer"? Seriously, it's like 3 awesome actors and then freakin' Julia Roberts shows up. She just doesn't fit in with that "crowd" at all. I get annoyed whenever I see the trailer and she's all over it. Ugh.

On a funnier note, Adam Brody just said "The crush Seth has on Ryan is nothing compared to the crush Zach has on Seth." Hee. Gotta love those gay OC boys.

Also- OMG. The new "Phantom of the Opera" trailer? Freakin' orgasmic. Santa Cruz, with all our 50,000 residents, somehow got chosen as a "select city" for the early December 22 opening of the film. I'll be in San Diego (another selected city, expectedly) when it opens but at least when I come back to school in early January I'll get to see it whenver I want instead of having to wait until January 20 like the rest of the poor, deprived country. Poor you. Poor, poor deprived you.

Just got back from voting. Everything went smoothly. And because I never got around to reading about all the propositions and city councilmen, I made good use of the little door hanger sign the UCSC Democrats left for us this morning.

The election coverage is giving me an ulcer. I'm gonna head down to an election party later. They have champagne for a Kerry victory and Jack Daniels if Bush wins. Hehehe.

Contemplating life/love/loneliness + Garden State Soundtrack + alone on a bus on the way to work = Depressing

Am at work now. On the bright side, apparently there's something rather inspiring in this environment because I'm writing up a storm on this Iraq War essay due tomorrow. I barely wrote out 2 paragraphs at home all morning (about 6 hours in front of the computer), I've been here for about 20 minutes and have wirtten at least that much if not more. Hey, thinking about the Iraq War makes my life seem not so bad. Heh.

Oh yeah, good luck to [info]jo_herself on writing her essay too.

Dammit, the shows playing closest to me are LA and Irvine, and just my luck, I'll be in Toronto when they hit Cali. Grrrr. Why the hell are we going to Toronto in the dead of winter anyways? :(

Had a conversation with [info]angela627 tonight that further cemented my resolution to buy an iBook ("What resolution to buy an iBook?" "See how much of my thinking process you miss when I don't post for 5 months?"). I really need to familiarize myself with Macs as well as PCs, since it seems like a lot of major design jobs out there require you to be proficient in both, if not just in Mac. She said something about it being because Macs are more multimedia based, but what do I know about Macs? Heh.

I actually do have enough money to spend on a laptop right now due to the recent receipt of my scholarship which far exceeds my monetary needs for this quarter, but that seems rather wasteful and impulsive. So I've come up with a plan. Since school started, I've barely had any time to work, and I've been making only about $300 a month. But it doesn't matter because the scholarship really does cover everything. So what I'm going to do is put my paychecks directly into my savings account, and when that amount builds up enough to buy an iBook, that's when I'll buy it. I figure it should take 3 - 5 months. Will keep you updated because I can see you're all riveted.

Why I'm posting when I've got to go to work in 2 minutes, I have no idea. I just got a sudden urge to LJ for some reason. Let's see, what to talk about...

I've had a bad cold for the past week or so, and of course it's the middle of midterm/major-paper-turn-in week. BLAH. At least I'm getting over it now, because I have papers and midterms next week too.

Oh, I'm going to be Claire Danes in "Romeo + Juliet" for Halloween, well, the angel outfit she wore to the party. Does anyone have any idea how they did her hair? It's like this braid all twisted around the top of her head but not exactly. My friend and I are gonna watch my DVD in slow motion and see if we can figure it out, lol. And it can't be too hard to find a white dress and some angel wings. I hope.

What else... Oh I'm sad because the theater near my house finally stopped playing Garden State. :( Only got to see it twice. It seems like it should just keep playing there... forever! Oh well. Can't wait for the DVD, Zach Braff is a rock star, he's putting tons of extras on it. :D

Ok gotta go to work. Hehe, this was fun, let's do this again in 5 months, yeah?
